Crazy for coconut oil!!

Via Google

So I think I just might have found my next holy grail product. Yes it's coconut oil. It seems like this can be used for just about anything. I originally decided to get this for my hair as a conditioner because I heard it does amazing things for damaged hair or even just to help regrowth. Coconut oil is one of the few foods that can be classified as a “superfood.”Its unique combination of fatty acids can have profound positive effects on health. This includes fat loss, better brain function and various other amazing benefits.

So naturally before I wen tout and bought this  decided to do some research on just what this oil would do for my hair and I was not disappointed by what I found out. This oil has so many uses not just for vanity reason I guess you could say but for your health as well.

I'll go ahead and list some of the ways that coconut oil can be used.
  • Hair Mask-You can apply it all over your hair, put on a shower cap and leave it overnight or just a couple of hours.
  • body oil/face moisturizer- Use it as a lotion applying it all over your body and face. Makes your skin nice and soft plus you'll smell good :)
  • Lip Balm- Dry lips? No problem dab some of this on those dry lips.
  • Cuticle softer- Apply to your cuticles and dry hands as well.
  • Under eye cream- Yup apply some of this oil under your eyes, it helps wit dark circles as well.
  • Make-up Remover- this was another big one for me. Use it as a make-up remover. Simply put on your face directly or on a cloth and take your make-up off.
  • Anti-frizz- Use a small amount on your hair either dry or damp to avoid getting frizz.
  • Body scrub- DIY: Mix coconut oil with some sugar and ta-da!
  • Shaving cream- Simply apply it to area being shaved and well shave lol
  • Ingredient- You can substitute it in your cooking for other oils. It can also be eaten straight out of the jar. You can add it to smoothies, Shakes, Coffee, teas, you name it.
  • Tanning oil- self explanatory
  • Hair regrowth-Apply and massage oil to bald or hair thinning spot leave on overnight or for about an hour.
  • Highlighter- Apply a thin layer on cheeks over make-up
  • Wound care- helps heal and avoid infections.
  • Dogs-Even your pets can benefit, apply to their paws if they're extra dry or cracked. As always be careful.
  • anything and everything- These are just some of the most common but there are hundreds more things it can be used for. Would take me forever to mention them all.
What kind should I buy?
  • Organic
  • Extra virgin
  • Cold pressed
  • Non-hydrogenated
Brand to look for:
  • Nutiva Coconut Oil
  • Natures Way Coconut Oil
  • Now Foods Coconut Oil
Have you used coconut oil before? If so let me know what you use it for or if you decided to give it a try and some of the new ways you use it for.

In a rut

Via Google

Hey guys!
Hope you all have been well. I know I have not been on here much but life sometimes tends to get in the way. Anyways this might be a different post than usual. Normally I post about advice but here I am seeking advice from you guys :) So usually I've been feeling like I'm in a career rut. Don't get me wrong I don't totally hate my job but I don't absolutely love what I do either. To be honest I think life is to short (I know you've prob heard this before but it's true)  to spend it doing things you do not love. I know nothing in life is perfect but settling for this that are okay just doesn't seem right.

I've thought about the idea of a new career for a bit now but I think it's time to actually act on it now. The problem is I do not know where to start. Do I go back to school, simply look for another job, keep positive and things will get better at my current job??? I just don't know. I'm not sure what I would go back to school for to be honest. I just want to have a career/job where I don't drag getting up in the morning and that I enjoy doing on a day to day basis.  I'm just sort of in limbo at this point and any ideas or suggestions that you think might help me out will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about this random post but needed to vent out a bit and sort of get my head together on things.

Have any of you ever felt this way? If so what did you do about it? Let me know down below.

How long should I keep my make-up for???

Pic via google

Okay So I am definitely guilty of this next thing as I think many of us may be.When to know wether to keep or thow out your make-up. I decideed to writ a posy on this because i recently used a foundation that I forgot I had and used it. Well guess what it was old and it cause my face to break out :/ So here's a list of how long to keep your makeup for. Hope this helps you all.
  1. Concealer Up to 12 months.

  2. Powder 2 years.

  3. Cream & gel cleansers 1 year.

  4. Pencil eye liner Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.

  5. Eyeshadow can also last up to 3 years.

  6. Brushes Wash every 2-3 months

  7. Sponges Wash weekly and discard monthly.

  8. Foundation Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months.
  9. Lip liner Up to 3 years.

  10. Lipstick Some say 1-2 years. Others say up to 4 years. What everyone agrees on is that if it smells rancid, throw it out, it's no longer any good.

  11. Mascara expires the fastest: Throw out after 4 months. tip: If you don't want your mascara to expire faster than its fresh date, don't pump the wand in and out.
       12. Nail Polish Up to 12 months, depending on the quality and how many times you use it.

So to recap, use common sense and if it smells funny or looks strange it should be thrown out. If there is ever a doubt about whether to keep it or toss it, you should always just throw it out.
The best tip is to regularly clean and maintain your makeup so they will last you longer, and keep you healthier as well. This also includes cleaning your brushes at least every month with a little dish soap or baby shampoo.

Hope you found this helpful. *Goes off to sort through the rest of my makeup collection*

The Universe

Screenshot of one of my daily e-mails.
Hey guys,

Okay so I thought I'd share with you guys this neat (yeah I just said that) e-mail thing I've been using for the past year and I don't know I haven't shared it with you guys before because it is just awesome. Okay so its this thing called The Universe e-mails. It's a system were you get Daily emails sent to you from "The Universe." It's a great system for anyone who likes to receive positive messages to help you get your day off to a good and positive start. I absolutely love it. It's the first e-mail I read in the morning and it honestly helps set my mind in a positive way for the rest pf the day. The best art of all this is it's absolutely free. Crazy Right?! All you have to do is sign up, personalize it with all your info, name, birth date, goals, dreams and that's it. The next day you will have an e-mail waiting for you in your inbox ready to set you off in a positive attitude. It might sound a bit crazy but seriously you won't regret this little e-mail you get every morning.

I actually came across this from a friend after we both watched a movie on Netflix called The Secret . It's a movie based on the same thing, about how one can think positive thoughts and then they can pretty much become positive actions or event in our life. It's definitely worth a watch, very interesting and gives you a new perspective on things. This has helped me a lot especially since sometimes with the anxiety I go through it's hard to maintain a positive attitude all the time.

Anyways I'll stop rambling and let you all check it out. I will put a  link below to the website in case any of you want to sign up or check this thing out. Oh here's a little expert from their website to give you a bit of an idea of what this is all about. What started in 1998 as an email sent out weekly to 38 addresses has since blossomed into today's daily Notes from the Universe, sent to over 600,000 subscribers in 185 countries! These Notes are brief passages written by "The Universe," personalized with your name (and occasionally your personal goals and dreams), designed to remind you that you have, indeed, been given dominion over all things.

Let me know if any of you check out the movie on netflix or sign up for Notes From The Universe and what you think about it. Until next time.

Makeup hacks we all need to know

1. Turn a pencil eyeliner into a gel formula with a match or lighter
Hold your black, green, blue, basically any eye pencil, under a flame for literally one second, let it cool for 15 seconds, and then watch the consistency change . Finally, glide on your newly made gel liner for an instantly smudgier formula.
2. Add saline solution to a flaky mascara formula to rewet it againYou're only supposed to keep mascara for three months, because beyond that point, it can collect bacteria and lead to eye infections. But, if your mascara dries up within those three months fix it it with a couple drops of saline solution. Good as new, we sort of.
3.Blast your eyelash curler with a hair dryer to heat it up, so your lashes curl easier
Blowing hot air on your eyelash curler will help your lashes curl easier and stay curled longer; it works the same way heat changes the pattern of your hair and holds a curl with a curling iron. To do it, just hit the curler with your blow dryer until it heats up, wait until it cools a bit but is still warm (don't burn your eye off), and then curl your lashes like normal.I do this all the time as my eyelashes are so stubborn.
4.Dust on translucent powder in between coating on mascara to plump up your lashes.
The translucent powder helps grip the mascara in between coats, leaving you with fuller lashes. Or baby powder works just as fine. Apply mascara let it dry a bit then add some powder and then mascara again.
5.Apply eyelash glue to false lashes with the tip of a clean bobby pin.
Use the tip of a bobby pin to evenly disperse the glue along the base of your falsies. Helps avoid those oops moments of having glue squirt out and ruin your lashes. Then, wait a few seconds for the glue to get tacky and apply!
6.For long-lasting lip color, swipe on your shade, lay a tissue over your mouth, and then dust translucent powder over it to set the color.
This process may seem a but much, but the payoff is worth it. Not only does the translucent powder set a bold shade, like a dark red/burgundy, making it  long-wearing, but the tissue acts as a shield to your lip color, protecting it from lightening or losing it's color.
7.Mix loose pigments with a salve or petroleum jelly to make your own custom lip gloss.
If you have loose eyeshadow pigments that you're obsessed with and want to wear it as a lip shade, blend it with a little bit of a salve, like VMV Hypoallergenics Boo-Boo Balm, or petroleum jelly in a spoon and swipe it onto your lips.
8.Perfect your cupid's bow by drawing an "X" on your upper lip first as a guideline.
To make the cupid's bow part of your pout look perfect, the easiest and quickest way is to take a lip liner in the same shade as your lipstick and create an "X" at your cupid's bow. Then, apply your lipstick as you normally would and voila!
9. Blot your face in a pinch with a clean toilet seat cover.
Initially, yes, this sounds gross, but both blotting papers and toilet seat covers are made out of similar fabrics and will help sop up excess oil on your skin. So, if you're in a pinch and headed to the bathroom to freshen up anyway, grab one of these covers and pat it over your skin to decrease any excess oil on your face. originally saw this on the Tyra Show way back when and I have never forgotten it. :) cuz it works.

Let me know if any of you guys try soem of these tips/tricks. Have a great weekend. :)

The Last Bookstore

View from the top

HI :) surprises around every corner.

There's a floor where the books are color coordinated!! Love it!
Book tunnel!

Crazy typewriter

This time last year I visited a book store called...you guessed it The Last Bookstore in downtown LA and I completely feel in love with it. Especially now with not many old fashioned bookstores around. This is such a great place if you are a book lover. I mean they have shelves upon shelves of books and some cool art. I could literally spend hours there as there is more than one floor (:0) yea I know!! They have mini art galleries in there that you can buy art from, so its a great place even if you don't plan on getting books.

They even buy used/new books from you, how great is that! Maybe I'm just an overly excited book lover, who likes old fashion paper books but if you are in the LA area check this place out, I promise you will now be disappointed. Plus they have Christmas decorations lol. If you're interested I'll put their info down below.
